About Jonathan

Jonathan Yukich has taught at the University of New Haven for over a decade. In this time, he has directed university productions of The Wolves, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, Godspell, The Nether, Our Town, Psycho Beach Party, The Rocky Horror Show, The Maids, The WinterÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ™s Tale, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later. He also advises and coordinates the program's biennial Student New Works Festival.

As a playwright, JonathanÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ™s work is published by Broadway Play Publishing, Smith & Kraus, Playscripts, Inc., Eldridge Publishing, and Brooklyn Publishers, among others. His plays have been produced across the United States and in Canada, Australia, Asia, South Africa and Europe. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Kennedy CenterÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ™s Paula Vogel Award for Playwriting and the Shubert Fendrich Award. His play Alice@Wonderland, a contemporary retelling of Lewis CarrollÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ™s Alice books, has received over a thousand full productions worldwide since it was published by Pioneer Drama in 2013.

His textbook, Theatre Now: Reading It, Seeing It, Doing It, published by Cognella, is widely used in schools and colleges. Other popular and acclaimed published works include Killing the Bear, The Poe Show, Waking Sleepy Hollow, Finding Don Quixote, Reality Stars: Greek Gods Edition, and Frankenstein Unplugged. Many of his previously anthologized shorter plays can be found in his collection Scattered Plays: Eight Short Works.
