Lauren Kempton, Ph.D.
About Lauren
Dr. Lauren Kempton was a professor at the University of New Haven for many years, retiring in 2022. She taught Sociology, Women in Society, and Race and Ethnic Studies. She received the Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2022. Dr. Kempton was very active in the Myatt Center and issues of diversity and inclusion. She authored a book on Darfur: "Adu My Grandfather Said" and two chapters on Shoah and Resistance in "The Call of Memory." She resides in Meriden with her husband, Brooks and both are active in supporting immigrant rights. The love of her life are her grandchildren, Cole and Madde. She returned to the University to teach "Modern Genocide: Call of Memory," as she strongly feels the need for critical thinking in response to current genocides.
