In a University-wide message, President Kaplan extended his sympathies to the victims and encouraged members of the campus community to help support those who were impacted by the tragedy.
March 16, 2019
Dear Members of the Campus Community,
It is with profound sadness that I write today as the University of New Haven extends our shared horror and deep condolences to all those affected by the tragic Mosque shootings in New Zealand.
Yet again, violence against individual human beings has shown itself in the form of blind and unreasoning hate and rage.
In a country founded upon the principle of freedom of religious belief, attacks against those who exercise their right to worship ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ“ wherever they occur ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ“ must be seen as an attack on each one of us.
Many members of our University community will be deeply affected by these events. I ask you to care for those around you and to offer support to those particularly impacted by this tragedy. Let them know they are not alone and that we stand together.
Sincerely,
Steven H. Kaplan, Ph.D.
President
