Seton Gallery
The Seton Gallery features the work of students, faculty and visiting artists. We present exhibitions that celebrate diversity and promote interdisciplinary practices.
We are open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. During the academic year, student gallery assistants are available to give tours of current exhibitions.
Please visit the Department of Art & Design's Administrative Assistant in Dodds Hall room 208 if an attendant is not present or through the summer months.

sTo Len: To Dissolve into the Hydrocommons, One Drop at a Time

To Dissolve into the Hydrocommons, One Drop at a Time is a solo exhibition by the artist sTo Len. The show examines the themes of environmental decay and the interconnectedness of global ecosystems by siting the waterways around the New Haven area as places of artistic exploration. LenÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s interdisciplinary practice engages viewers to investigate their impact on the environment.
Community Clean-Up Event
In conjunction with the Citizen Opportunities for Accessing Science Training on the Sound (COASTS), LenÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s exhibition will include a public talk and a community clean-up event at Long Wharf on Saturday, October 1.
Len's exhibition is funded by grants from the International Association of New Haven and the Connecticut Sea Grant Arts Award Support Program.

sTo Len is a printmaker, installation, sound, and performance artist interested in improvisation and experimentation within various media. His printmaking work updates traditional techniques such as Suminagashi (floating ink) and Gyotaku (fish impression) into an experimental collaboration with nature and a site of discourse on environmentalism and art activism.
The cross-disciplinary nature of LenÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s work includes transforming public spaces such as a river into an art studio, recycling waste into art materials, creating a community pirate radio station, and hosting water ritual performances at Superfund sites.
sTo Len is currently based in Queens, NY. Len has familial roots in Vietnam and Virginia, and his work incorporates these bonds by connecting issues of their history, environment, traditions, and politics.

Cheryl Gross: Commit to Memory: The Precipice of Extinction

Cheryl GrossÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ™s solo exhibition Commit to Memory: The Precipice of Extinction is a multi-platform, social commentary that addresses the shifting and eventual disappearance of our culture using animals as metaphors. Gross selects animals from the endangered species list to create a multi-media, graphic audiovisual representation of a society teetering on the verge of collapse. Artistic depictions of animal species as victims illustrate the decline of the American democratic system. Gross uses the word "extinction" throughout the narrative as the blueprint of this project.
About the Artist
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Cheryl Gross is an illustrator, painter, writer, and motion graphic artist living and working in the New York/New Jersey area. She is a professor at Pratt Institute.
Cheryl received her MFA from Pratt Institute. Her work has appeared in numerous films, TV shows, publications, and graces the walls of many corporate and museum collections including Zebra Poetry Film Festival, Berlin, New York Times, 100 New York Painters, Schiffler Publishing, Riverside Museum, Riverside, Ca., USA, The Museum of The City of New York, Mississippi Museum of Art, The New York Times, Comedynet.com, Associatedcontent.com, Current TV, Laforet Harajuku Museum, Tokyo, Japan, and Artist-In-Residency, Kunstlerhaus, Saarbrucken, Germany.
